MitzvahManager roles and permissions let a synagogue decide what each person on the team can see and do. Members are given either standard Member or full Administrator access, while tutor and staff assignments connect specific people to specific students, so administrators, tutors, and additional staff each get the right level of access.
Every person on your team is either a Member or an Administrator. Administrators have full permission to manage members, organization settings, purchases, and every student, so administrator access is best kept to your most trusted staff. Members have the everyday access they are given. Access level and student assignment are two separate dials: access level sets what a person can do across the whole organization, while a tutor or staff assignment connects them to specific students — which is why the same settings shape what shows up on someone's student list, calendar, and message threads.
The Tutor staff role makes a member eligible to be a student's primary tutor. Tutors see the students assigned to them rather than the whole roster, so their view stays focused on the students they are actually preparing.
Beyond the primary tutor, administrators can attach additional staff to a specific student and give each one a role label such as Cantor or Rabbi. Those staff members then see the students they are assigned to, which keeps involvement precise without opening up the whole organization.
Only administrators can add members, change access levels, edit organization settings, and manage staff assignments on a student. A safeguard prevents removing the last administrator, so an organization can never lock itself out of management.
